[FILM & TELEVISION] Monty Python will never re-unite...
Eric Idle says he will not be reuniting with his Monty Python co-stars any time soon.
Despite attempts by Michael Palin, the Spamalot star is not interested in getting together again to record new Python material.
According to BreakingNews.ie, Idle said: "All this talk about, 'You guys should get back together,' is a complete load of b**locks. And let's not forget, when we were together, there were lots of people who f**king hated us."
Oh well, enjoy this video of South Park ripping off Monty Python...

[TV]New TV Shows Round Up.
Strangely, 3 of the shows are on NBC. Studio 60, 30 Rock and 20 Good Years. Also strangely, The shows all have numbers in the names. Kind of reminds me of a time in the late 90's when every band had numbers in the name, Blink 182, SR71, and Project 86 come to mind. So, with out further adieu...
Freak Show. David Cross shares writing credits with a guy who has acted in the movie "New york minute". The show is pretty funny for a first episode and will offend the PC. It has some potty humor but also has some smart jokes so it all kind of evens out. David Cross does several voices and I think a guy who the voice for Coach Mcgirk from home movies does as a well. All in all worth checking out.
I couldn't find a video for freak show.
Studio 60. It's made by Aaron Sorkin who was responsible for "The West Wing". It is a drama about producing a comedy show. The writers have been spot on with some good plot twists in the first 30 episodes and I think the moments seem well scripted and believable. It gets better every episode so this one also gets my recomendation.
30 Rock. Is Tina Fey's new show about a sketch comedy show as well, this one is more about being funny. I have only seen the pilot and was a lil disappointed. It's not that is wasn't funny, it just could have had way more funnies. I do see alot of potential in it. I'll wait for a few more episodes with this one.
20 Good Years. Features John Lithgow(No references needed) and Jeffery Tambor(Arrested Development) and was also a little bit disappointing. The writers are basically unheard of the jokes were ok. 1 particularly funny moment featured John Lithgow in a tiny bathing suit. I dunno, maybe I just hate situation comedies. I will say that it's better than 90 of what's on television so I'll give it a chance.

[MUSIC]Slayer's New Album Banned In India
Slayer banned in India
Slayer's new album, Christ Illusion continues to cause controversy worldwide. The album was recently banned in India. The ban is particularly interesting since Christians are a minority in India, which is largely made up of Hindus, Muslims and Buddhist.
Early this week, Joseph Dias, general secretary of the Mumbai-based Catholic Secular Forum (CSF), issued a statement taking "strong exception" to the album's cover artwork, which he said depicts "Christ with a missing eye and amputated arms." He added, "we also condemn the track, 'Skeleton Christ' as the lyrics are an insult to Christianity." The CSF also sent a memorandum to Mumbai's police commissioner, adding that the album "will affect the sensibilities of the Muslims on the track 'Jihad' and secular Indians who have respect for all faiths."
Kaveri Khullar, marketing manager, EMI India said in an interview, "We met with the CSF and were apologetic while assuring them that all copies of the album would be pulled out. We have no plans of re-issuing it in any way."
The CSF had earlier protested against the Indian release of "The Da Vinci Code" which led the Censor Board to instruct the India distributor, Mumbai-based Sony Pictures Releasing India, to include a notice to accompany the film to explain that it was a work of fiction.
The band's previous album, God Hates Us All was released in the United States with an altered cover, and Christ Illusion appears on Amazon with the cover art obscured.
I personally think this whole thing is quite funny.

One sign of sucess is...
Rockabye Baby! Lullaby Renditions of Nirvana will be available on October 31.
War Sucks.
Words from the 172nd Stryker Brigade.
Right now we are living in big warehouses, sleeping about 150-200 guys in each warehouse. We have one trailer with 8 showers, 5 toilets, and 5 urinals. That's for the 150-200 guys living in your building. Not to mention we are living on the other side of the FOB -- away from any other living human being, phone center or internet café.
Did they mean to keep us away from everyone for a reason?
We don't bite, although some might think so. The females on this FOB were all given whistles before we arrived on this FOB. Bet that's something they didn't want us to find out, yet we were approached by the same females you gave them to.
We were called on to come here and take care of business. We were called on to come here and take of what I read on the internet as the most important mission of this war, the mission that will make or break this war, but we seem more like the black eye that no one wants around.
So be it, we will be the black eye of this FOB as long as they want to look at us like that, but with our backs against the wall we will never quit. We will fight tooth and nail as hard as we have to, to get home to what we deserve.
As our brothers in arms fall in Baghdad to save this city for a people we will most likely never see again, we will grit our teeth and do the job we were asked without any armchair quarterbacks losing sleep at night.
As everyone knows we were extended with some of us already home in Alaska, some in Kuwait and some of us living out of our bags with a matter of days to go before we were to fly home. It was about the biggest low blow we could have got. The morale of this unit was definitely 6 feet underground after that, yet we were being called on for the big game.
One of the arm chair quarterbacks at the top fell asleep playing his game of chess and now we have to pay the price and pick up the slack. We were in Mosul when Baghdad took its turn for the worst after the February bombing of the shrine that sent the country into a downward spiral.
Like it or not this country is in the middle of a civil war. When there are more civilian casualties from each other than there are deaths of soldiers involved in this war, what do you call that? When the morgue in Baghdad alone reports of 1800 plus bodies in the month of July alone. We may have been put in the middle of this civil war but theres only one way to referee it and thats to take care of every kidnapper, death squad and terrorist until only the deserving walk the streets of Baghdad.
When that bomb went off at the Golden Mosque they knew then that the units here in Baghdad didnt have the mobility of the Strykers but they sat on their hands hoping the problem would go away on its own. Well it didnt. It got worse and worse as the months went by and we watched it all over the news from our northern FOB. Why not call on us 3 or 4 months ago and move us to Baghdad and move another unit up to Mosul, a city that we made a hell of a lot safer.
We could have come to Baghdad for the last 3 to 4 months of our year long tour and still been able to go back stateside like we deserve after our performance over here. I know many of us had vacations planned and paid for, many of us had flown our families up to Alaska already and now are having to fly them right back home. Whos dishing out that refund? Wheres the money going to come from for my trip to the white sand beaches of Hawaii? Right out of our pockets.
Some had paid first and last months rent on a new apartment or starting buying new vehicles. They knew before they extended us that it was going to happen. Maybe a little heads up could have saved a lot of HARD EARNED money. We made that with blood, sweat and tears.
One other thing that people might not have thought about was our leave situation. We got 15 days of leave back to the states for being over here and well Ill just put it like this we went on leave 2 months after being here. Do the math and you will figure out that time was no where close to the middle of our tour and many of us will be here for over a year straight.
Now I know at the start of this war that happened to many veterans and I have to give it to you for that but how many years are we into this war now. We went on leave early and were held from leave in other months so this country could hold elections with all of us here.
Where did those so called 4 day passes go that we were told we would get since we went on leave so early? Ill tell you where they went, to non-combat MOSs that never left the wire. Do you have any idea what its like to hear someone talk about how they hated going to Qatar when they got there 15 days of leave also yet never left the wire. They went to Qatar and had a two beer limit, got to drop their flak vest that they never wore and had some free time in a green zone.
We worked our knuckles to the bone and held one of the safest elections in Iraq working 27 to 35 hours straight. Sometimes all we did was come back in to refuel and go back out in hostile territory. We had been promised those over and over again and have yet to see a single soldier in our unit go on a 4 day pass.
We have done everything from tower guard, gate guard, and chow hall guard. Not where the infantry should be used but our so-called down days were spent pulling 8 to 10 hour guard shifts on the FOB. When the non combat MOSs were talking about how they had days off. Thats ok we will continue to pull our weight and others' weight as long as the sky remains blue.
When we go back home each of us will know what we did over here. When we see you with your dirty M16 in the chow hall and hear you complain about how hard your day was, just remember standing right behind you is the man you keeps you safe while you sleep. Take a look around at the men that surround you before you decide to open your mouth about a job you had to do on the FOB.
Whens the last time the PX took small arms fire or had an RPG fired at it while you were pulling guard with no flak vest on. When you hear that firefight going on outside the FOB just remember who is out there fighting for their next meal, fighting for the next time the get to hear a loved ones voice on the phone. We go to the chow hall and they tell us we have to have a magazine full of ammo to get into the chow hall.
Ill tell you nothing makes me more nervous than being around a bunch of people who probably havent fired their weapon the entire time we have been over here and I can already see plenty of ammo laying around if something were to break out inside the wire.
I love my job as an Infantryman and I wouldnt trade it for any other MOS. I will do the dirty work that others pray to never see, I will be the red headed stepchild of the army, I will be the chosen one, just remember who we are cause the FOB you walk on has been secured with blood, sweat and tears.
One last thing I would like to put out is the next time some big wig wants to come to Camp Taji you make sure to show your face around the guys you called on for the fight of all fights, cause every time a V.I.P. showed up at our FOB for our year long tour we were always mysteriously out on patrols. We are like guard dogs at a rich mans house, whenever company comes over they put us in the garage and tell us not to bark, but when its dark outside they let us out to hunt and kill what goes bump in the night.
Make sure Mr. Rumsfeild the next time you serve dinner up at a chow hall like you did in Mosul a few months back you make sure your serving it to the men who are fighting the good fight as their time is due. Also I wont forget about you Mrs. Rice who has made many trips to the Middle East and yet to pay dues to the Artic Warriors. Its not the higher ups who search house after house and fight day and night in the streets that need to hear from you. Its not the higher ups who risk everything they have out there trying to track down the next suicide bomber who need you to pat them on the back.
Its the men who fight and die for a cause only some of us may understand. We have been told we are not the main effort of this mission down here we are simply the muscle behind this operation, but every thing I have been told and everything posted on the news and internet puts us front and center to turn Baghdad on its head. Maybe all these Generals and armchair quarterbacks should show their face to the men they signed off on with only days, hours and minutes to go.
We stood up a Police and Army that were decimated in 2004 in Mosul and we will do it again here if we have to. As we sit here talking of children and wives that we may never see again we will push on with our backs against the wall. We may be the black eye now but we will have our time in this life or the next. We will not go quietly, we will accomplish this mission. We may be a unit once forgotten after the Vietnam War, we may be a unit you have never heard of until they extended us, but we will be a unit you will never forget. Mark my word!

Gangster Rap may make you money, but it won't get you into the Hip-Hop meuseum in the Bronx
1.5 mil has been allocated for a new meusuem in The Bronx, but they are trying to keep gangsta rap out of it. While I don't support those kind of lyrics, I do see Hip-Hop as a reflection of real life. That said, I think they should be included. We will see how this is played out.

Apparently there is a movie on the festival circuit called "Ten Till Noon" that people are speculating is from the mind of Quentin Tarentino. According to the IMDB it's not true but I'm willing to bet 5 bucks he could have used a psuedonym. I haven't seen it but I am hoping it will hit some theaters in oregon. The Rough Guide To Fiction
This American Life
http://thislife.org/
A man plays a prank in the office, a person gets up in a dinner party to use the restroom, ordinary even mundane things become suddenly interesting on the NPR show "This American Life". A show broadcasted out of Chicago, it has been on for 10 years and shows no sign of stopping anything soon.
The show can be described as interviews set to music but there is so much more to it. The editing is done in such a way that usually the interviewer cannot be heard and it sounds like the subject is just telling a story. I read a small zine/comic book where Ira Glass shows how to do it and it is not a simple task.
Of course it isn't all interviews as several writers have also read short stories on the show as well. David Sedaris and Nick Hornby come to mind off the top of my head. In fact, Davis Sedaris sounds nothing like I expected.
Streams of all the shows are available on the site.
Recent Books I have finished.
So you can see why finishing a few books is a big deal to me. As you can see from my listal account, I have a ton of books that I haven't read yet.
1. Sirens Of Titan by Kurt Vonnegut
Excelent piece of satire, I was laughing out loud quite often. This is my first Kurt Vonnegut book and I know for sure I will be reading more of his work in the near future.
2. Guns, Germs and Steel: The fates of human societies by Jared Diamond
Quite informative, I learned several things from this book and I often find myself quoting it in conversation. Of course it's sometimes hard to find people to chat about history and evoloution with. Some things are repeated several times and alot of people had that to complain about. I thought it really helped with my retension of the knowlege. I would read it again.
3. The Fountainhead by Ayn Rand
Extremely well written piece of literature. It took me about 6 months to read it. Of course I am always reading a few things at a time so some things just take a long time. Alot of people don't like this book or Ayn Rand in particular. I found it to be quite entertaining and I often find myself comparing real life people to characters in "The Fountainhead". Of course I see myself as Howard Roark. I would probablly read it again.
I am currently reading: The Third Chimpanzee by Jared Diamond, Me Talk Pretty One Day by Davis Sedaris and Lake Wobegon Days by Garrison Keilor.

Locust Show Review
Loveland, Pdx
The first band(can't remember there name) sounded just like don cab.thats a good thing. The plot to blowup the eiffel tower was ok,I really didn't like how the singer was licking the mike stand and his onstage antics were a little, too much for me.the music was great cept for the sound at the meow meow is TERRIBLE.The ex-models can fuck off and die, that shit was terrible.SixSeisRoku will own all in that style.it was sooooo repetive and lame and so boring.
The locust played for 15 mins, the pit was great,I got to push p[eople,it was quite empowering. They sounded good.but they really need to truly be appreciated on a good soundsystem with a good sound guy who knows what he's doin.Props to the dreaded girl in the pit.no props to the girl er um guy who looked like he was having a seizure(you know who you are)

Love and Death Movie Review
Love and Death(1975) movie review http://imdb.com/title/tt0073312/ Director: Woody Alllen A Russian couple plots to assasinate Napoleon. Cinematography: Nothing special... good framing and all that jazz, nothing orson wellish or anything... Direction: Nothing thats mindfuck amazing..... Acting: Woody Allen and Diane Keaton are great with eachother. Sight gags are well played in the woody allen style. Its hard to judge acting in comedies. Dialouge: Discussions about life and death and philosophy, very funny, way better than I heart hukabees IMHO. Funny stuff this movie Plot: Once again nothing mindfuck amazing... but fresh even for today.... In summation... This movie is hilarious, they just don't make comedies like they used too, no toilet humor or anything of the sort in this film. Simply a good movie. 4/5 stars....

Directed by Bennet Miller
"Until one morning in mid-November of 1959, few Americans - in fact, few Kansans - had ever heard of Holcomb. Like the waters of river, like the motorists on the highway, and like the yellow trains streaking down the Santa Fe tracks, drama, in the shape of exceptional happenings, had never stopped there." (from In Cold Blood)
Capote is a movie set in the late 1950's in mostly rural Kansas and a town that has just had a brutal murder of a family. Capote is a move about Truman Capote , author of "In Cold Blood" and "Breakfast at Tiffinays" It details Truman Capote's life as his investigates and studies the killers and actually befriends one.
To begin this review I feel it entirely necessary to start with Phillip Seymor Hoffman . He lost 40 lbs for this movie and while he usually doesn't look like he has 40 to lose(maybe 20), he doesn't look deathly skinny. His normal voice is usually low but you won't hear any of that in this movie as Hoffman portrays a gay intellectual. His voice is a little high pitched and it took a little bit getting used to. His performance is excellent. Truman Capote was known as the life of the party and Hoffman does these scenes perfectly. Not a single part of his performance was flawed.
The direction of this movie was very minimal with lots of still shots of the country side. Not a whole lot of eye candy but well done nonetheless. It was shot in 36 days which is a short amount of time for a movie to be shot, especially a mopvie with 5 academy award nominations. I definently applaud the fact that Miller was able to get non-actors to work well as some of the prison guards in the movie were actual life prison guards. The story flows perfect and there is never a dull moment.
In conclusion I belive that Capote is woth a visit to the theaters and a must rent and one of the best movies for the last quarter of 2005.

Heartbreak Party review
2/11/06
Loveland, PDX
1001 Untouchable Styles
1001 U.S. has been throwing parties since the summer of 2003. There a fairly large crew with 8 Djs. The Event was at the Loveland, a medium sized venue in southeast Portland. There was appromatly 400 people. That made the place a little packed. Nothing I couldn't handle. The crowd was pretty good mix of people. The rest rooms stayed intact. There weren't too many people obviouslly rolling and not too much drama that I saw.
There were 3 stages. Downstairs was mostly 4/4 beats the whole night. I didn't spend too much time down there. That is where some of the cluber type people were. I really hate to stereotype but there really just not my crowd.
The upstairs indoor room was mostly jungle/dnb and was pack and rocking the entire night. Dj Owns played a really good set complete with a few scratch routines. Grey Matter played some good trax as well. Quickster threw killer wax down as well. The vibe was definently in the upstairs.
The outdoor area was mostly psytrance and gabber. It was a thick cloud of smoke and I tried not to go out there much.
All in all it was an awesome night and 1001us knows how to throw a party.

The first post.
So much creative energy in this city, its strange. There is so much going on here at any given moment. I don't think I would want to live anywhere else.
Might as well throw up a picture.
How can not love this little guy....
