Battles The Band

The new (and first proper)album by Battles comes out May 15, I have a copy of it and it's some of the freshest stuff in instrumental post rock whateverness. Some of the songs could almost be on the radio. Some of the songs are very long and downright epic requiring multiple listenings to fully grasp the tracks. Every track is different and has elements not present on the ep's. Melodies are present which is uncommon for this stuff often times. I like the track rainbows, probably the most. It's crazy. Oh, and it's not fully instrumental though I can't make out a single word. It seems like they are using effects or he's doing the sigur ros thing and just making up a new language.

From Wikipedia:
The group's lineup is composed of well-known musicians, including ex-Helmet drummer John Stanier, ex-Don Caballero guitarist Ian Williams, ex-Lynx guitarist Dave Konopka, and Tyondai Braxton (son of Avantgarde Jazz musician Anthony Braxton), who also plays guitar and keyboard and creates live voice samples.

Here is a video for their song(atlas)...
